Bay Halibut Under the Golden Gate

Bay Halibut Under the Golden Gate

Halibut season on the Bay is about patience and a slow, steady drift, and when they are on, everybody on the boat gets a turn. These are the days we live for: a fog bank sitting on the Golden Gate, the boat set up on the drift, and the rods going one after another.

Six anglers, most of them kids, each holding a California halibut on the Reel Addiction with the Golden Gate in the fog behind
The whole crew, one flattie each, the bridge in the fog behind them.

A lot of these were first halibut. Nothing beats watching a kid fight a flatfish to the net and then hold it up almost as long as they are tall.

Two at once. Not a bad way to spend a morning.

Back at the dock it all came out on the mat: a full spread of California halibut with a few striped bass mixed in. Clean, bled and ready for the cooler.

We run halibut trips on the Bay through the season. Bring the family, we'll handle the rest. Rods, tackle, bait and fish cleaning are on us. Pick a date and book your spot.
